London Hospital
Optyma Security Systems protect staff, patients and property for some of the largest NHS Trusts…
Background
Working in partnership with a London based NHS Trust and the main building contractor, Optyma Security Systems was appointed to provide the phased design and installation of a sitewide integrated security system during this 10-year redevelopment and refurbishment project.
Following this appointment, we were appointed to provide the ongoing systems maintenance and repairs contracts across the sites.
Solutions
The Optyma Security Systems design team took into account the hospital’s need for high security and public access to large parts of the estate whilst balancing this with the need to work within significant historic and listed buildings and satisfying the archaeological and conservation design requirements for grade 1 listed buildings.
The installation consisted of several integrated systems including:
Graphical user interface
Access control systems
CCTV
Intruder alarm systems
Baby tagging
Staff attack
Barriers
Panic Alarms
Results
The systems were installed in the hospital’s buildings within a live working environment. These systems were then integrated with the existing retained estate areas across the hospitals’ entire estate.
In the new control room, a sophisticated graphical interface including maps, graphics, and full integration enables the security teams to have visibility of the whole site through more than 500 cameras.
In addition to video from the site, they are also able to control access to key areas, protect staff from attacks and protect vulnerable newborns from the risk of abduction with the baby tagging system.
The fully integrated security system that Optyma designed, installed, and now maintain provides the NHS Trust with a solution that enables them to protect staff, patients, and visitors.
