We are pleased to announce that Optyma have successfully passed our NSI audit, completing the transition to ISO 9001:2015. This certification guarantees our customers and partners the highest level of quality as well as the processes within our company. Thank you to our entire team for helping us to achieve this.
We are very pleased to announce that Optyma has joined the international engineering group, SDIPTECH. The acquisition agreement, signed on 11th January 2018, will preserve and enhance Optyma’s business for years to come.
We are confident that this change will benefit Optyma, as it provides additional opportunities for growth, without changes to our business.
Optyma’s services, of providing CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Gates and Barriers and Fire Detection Systems, will remain unchanged, and the company will continue to run as it did previously, with Graham Pollard remaining as Managing Director, and John Fitzgerald as Director. Optyma’s Management teams and workforce also remain unchanged.
Optyma were one of 300 European companies initially contacted by SDIPTECH in 2017, and one of only six that met their criteria. We are excited to belong to the SDIPTECH group, as having them as a parent company, improves our position today, but secures all of our tomorrows.

Its National apprenticeship week.
This week is all about the apprentices, introducing you to our newbies and them telling us how they feel about starting their new career path.
From office based to on-site engineering, apprentices at Optyma play a vital role in developing and expanding our business.
We invest a lot in our apprentices providing full support and guidance to those looking to embark on a long-term career within the electronic security industry.
During our recent 2016/17 intake of apprentices, we welcomed seven new members to our team, working on security systems projects across the UK within the Rail, utilities, and NHS sectors of our business.
Meet the apprentices
Here some of our new apprentices talk about their experiences of the scheme and how they feel about starting their new career path.
‘’I applied for an apprenticeship because I was not enjoying my time at sixth form, I decided to start afresh, by applying for an apprenticeship matching my interests and abilities. I was impressed by with the size and stature of Optyma and the possibilities for a successful career.
I feel that I am getting along very well with my new role. I have gained many skills which I never had, ranging from specific technical skills which I can now complete on my own, to social skills gained from interacting with many people with completely different personalities and traits.
My main challenge when I first started my apprenticeship was having to grasp the transition from a school environment to a full time working environment, which at first was a bit daunting, however I managed to overcome the transition and now feel capable of overcoming any challenges I face during my time here.''
'’I wanted to apply for an apprenticeship that involved technology as this has always been something that has always interested me, and by doing an apprenticeship I can learn whilst getting experience of how these systems work in practice as well as the theory that goes with the systems that we install and maintain.
I was interested in the apprenticeship as soon as I read the job description and had done more research into security systems and how they work. I was also interested in the many different training possibilities would become available to me which is defiantly a big bonus to someone who is beginning their career.
I’m very much enjoying my time at Optyma and the role I have been placed in. Every day is different and just as interesting. I’ve been on a number of sites and have experience a number of different systems. If I am ever unsure of anything or don’t fully understand then there is always an opportunity to ask my mentor or ask someone who has experience and they are always very understanding and happy to teach me''.

The war in Afghanistan may be over, but for those who have suffered life-changing injuries, their battles are just beginning.
We've estimated that, of the 220,560 individuals deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2014, up to 75,000 servicemen and women (and their families) may need our support in the future. We will not let them fight these battles alone.
Sustainability is a word that relates to the way companies manage their environmental, social and financial responsibilities towards society as a whole. These three elements are collectively referred to as the ‘Triple Bottom Line’.
Sustainability impacts upon companies in different ways – it certainly isn’t the case that one cap fits all. Optyma as a medium company rightly pride themselves in the manner in which they have implemented sustainability throughout the company and placed it firmly in the forefront of the company’s focus. It is no surprise that this has been a major reason for the company’s continuous growth over the past few years.
Optyma’s path towards sustainability commenced in 2008 with a management driven initiative desire to set in place the processes and procedures required to meet the BS8555 Environmental Management Systems standards. The company’s environmental management system has since been improved upon to meet the externally audited ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards that they are currently accredited to.
Optyma are Silver Award Tier 2 members of the ‘Supply Chain Sustainability School’, and have been since its creation. As members Optyma complete ongoing assessments of the company’s sustainability on a regular basis.
This has seen sustainability policy and procedures set in place that compliments the existing environmental management system.
Optyma’s approach to sustainability is based upon the kaizen principle of continuous improvement. Some of the improvements have led: -
- A reduction of the company’s carbon footprint by recording accurate data, educating staff in current environmental matters, investing in more fuel efficient vehicles, and making greater use of developing technology
- Social Responsibility & financial
- The employing of staff living local to where the company operates.
- Led since 2012 to the creation of fifteen Administrative and Security Engineer apprentice positions mainly for out of work school leavers.
- The donation of equipment to local causes such as MIND and making financial one off donations to various charities
- Sourcing wherever possible of specialist equipment from locally based approved suppliers
Optyma’s sustainability is an on-going process that is designed to build and improve upon the existing sustainability culture.
As a growing company Optyma’s senior management team set themselves a goal to provide apprenticeship work opportunities for school leavers looking to embark on a career within the electronic security industry. Optyma embraced two apprenticeship schemes – the first was for apprentice engineers and the second was for business and administration apprentices.
The initial tranche of apprentice engineers joined the company in October 2012, and were enrolled upon the City and Guilds intermediate 1853 NVQ Level L2 apprentice course. The initial course finished in 2014 and Apprentice Deeds were issued in early 2015. Some of these apprentices have since progressed on to the NVQL3 Advance 1853 NVQ Level 3 Course, whilst others have elected for a blended learning training route. To date Optyma have sent a further six apprentices on two separate taken on twelve (12) apprentice engineers of which six (6) apprentices.
Since the initial course Optyma have enrolled apprentices on two City and Guilds intermediate 1853 NVQ Level L2 apprentice courses. These apprentices are at different stages of development.
Business and Administrative Apprentices
In 2013 Optyma enrolled an administrative apprentice onto the Intermediate Level Business and Administration Apprenticeship.
This apprenticeship was successfully completed in December 2014 when the L2 Apprentice Deed was awarded. This apprentice has since progressed onto the NVQL3 Business and Administration Apprenticeship.
Optyma have continued to enrol a second administrative apprentice onto the same level 2 course.
Those who completed the apprenticeship now hold permanent positions with Optyma.
